In Germany, wooden nutcrackers can be dated back to the 15th Century. One of the most recognized origin stories of German nutcrackers is that of a wealthy farmer who wanted ot find a more efficient way to open his walnuts. The farmer offered a reward to anyone who could find him a solution. A puppet maker took the challenge and created the first nutcracker with it’s lever mouth.
